The Espérantine Product

What is Espérantine?

Espérantine is a handcrafted chocolate made from extra virgin olive oil, sweet almonds, candied orange peel, and 70% dark chocolate (pure cocoa butter). A true Marseille specialty, it won Best French Confectionery in 2000 at the Intersuc Salon in Paris.

We use organic, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil. It replaces animal fats, acts as a natural preservative, adds freshness, and enhances flavor complexity and finish.

Olive oil doesn’t overpower the other flavors. You’ll first taste the richness of the chocolate, then notes of almond and orange. The olive oil delicately enhances the aromas and leaves a refined, lingering taste.

Espérantine is shaped like an olive leaf – a Mediterranean symbol of peace and hope. Our olive branch-shaped gift boxes reinforce this meaningful symbolism.

The green coating is white chocolate naturally colored with spinach extract, to visually evoke an olive leaf.

Storage and Allergens

How should I store my chocolates?

Keep them away from humidity, heat (below 18°C / 64°F), and light. Avoid the fridge to maintain ideal texture and aroma.

Each box has a “Best Before” date. For peak flavor, we recommend consuming before this date.

They are gluten-free but do contain almonds.

Unfortunately, no. Our chocolates are not specially formulated for specific medical diets.

Payment and Shipping

How do I place my first order?

  3. Proceed to checkout: enter delivery details, choose payment method (account not required)
  4. You’ll receive a confirmation email with your order summary

Yes. All payments are processed via secure platforms. We never store your bank details.

Yes, we deliver in mainland France and internationally. French orders are delivered within 48–72 business hours after dispatch.

Absolutely. During checkout, add a different shipping address and select it before confirming the order.

  • Promo codes are not combinable and often valid once per customer
  • Make sure the code is still active and conditions (minimum amount, login required, etc.) are met
  • Enter the code in the cart or during checkout

Yes, even during hot weather. In high heat (above 30°C / 86°F), we use insulated packaging to protect your chocolates.

Order Tracking and Issues

How can I track my order?

  • Without an account: use the Order Tracking link at the top of our site (enter your order reference and email)
  • With an account: log in and view your order history

Your order may show the following statuses:

  • Awaiting cheque payment
  • Payment accepted
  • In preparation
  • Shipped
  • Delivered
  • Cancelled
  • Payment error
  • Picked up (for in-store pickup)

Yes. Once payment is confirmed, you’ll receive your invoice by email. If you need a copy, contact us via the form and include your order reference.

  • Check tracking via the shipping carrier
  • If visibly damaged, refuse the package upon delivery
  • If an item is missing, contact us with your full name and order number. If available, we’ll resend the item free of charge; if not, we’ll offer an equivalent replacement.

Is creating an account free?

Yes, it’s free and gives you access to order tracking, address management, and faster checkouts.

  • Click “Sign In” at the top right of the site, then “Create your account”
  • Fill in your name, email, and password
  • Add your mailing address and phone number (helpful for delivery)
  • You’ll receive a confirmation email with your login details (check spam/junk if not received)
